Ginger nut biscuits, crystalised ginger and cinnamon sticks on the nose, it's all about spice. On the palate there's a big hit of oak and spice, there is definitely whisky behind this, with cinnamon spice and Crunchie bars. Long and oaky finish.

Cherries, honey, clove and Christmas spice with warming length on the finish.

Cinnamon and Christmas candle, honey and dark berry notes on the nose.

Viscous on the palate with lots of spice and honey mixed with dark berry flavours. Nicely balanced. Long finish of sweet soft spices and clear honey.

Orange fondant and blackcurrant pastilles. Old wood polished with beeswax on the nose. The palate is tingling with orange and a hint of chilli. Fruity plum and rhubarb jam on toast. Cardamom and eucalyptus. Viscous and velvet, warm then cooling in the finish - Annabel Meikle

Deep and honeyed with a hint of marshmallow and toffee. Some toasted spice, coriander and cinnamon appears along with some lightly mentholated herbal notes. Quite sweet palate. In fact a lot sweeter than the nose suggests with spicy coffee, malt and lightly mentholated herbs. Thick and unctuous. Surprisingly well balanced with lingering dark honey - Chris Goodrum

Very refined nose and armed with a precision edged spice and sweetness: nutmeg, liquorice, charred orange zest, and a tiny hint of smoke. Fresh mint also combines to give this a mature and complex backing. A dry sherry note on the palate, then sweet acacia honey, plump vanilla, liquorice, white pepper and candyfloss. Surprisingly developed and well put together. Short finish, with notes of ginger and lemon zest. As liqueurs go, this one taps out above the others by quite a decent margin - Neil Ridley
